Apprenticeship program: 3rd year

The third year is cross-disciplinary, consisting of the “Complex Systems Engineering for Transportation, Energy, and Defense” course and an “Engineering and Design” profile. The courses are very general and can be applied to a wide range of sectors for those who wish to be trained in the design of large, complex systems.

After reviewing applications, a few places will also be available in the following four courses: “Artificial Intelligence,” “Cybersecurity,” “Marine Engineering,” and “Smart and Sustainable Mobility” as a substitute for the “Complex Systems Engineering” course.

International experience is also very important: apprentices must spend at least 12 weeks abroad to validate their degree.

The “engineering and design” apprenticeship profile

The Engineering and Design profile is aimed at students who wish to start their career in industry in a product and systems design and development role, responding to customer needs or working on large-scale projects. It is therefore followed by apprentices. This profile is based on additional training in production systems, as well as teaching related to business knowledge.

This program may be modified in accordance with changes decided by the ENSTA's governing bodies (Training Council and Board of Directors).

Company assignment

Schedule and pace of the third-year company internship:

  • Until mid-May: three weeks at ENSTA, five weeks at the company
  • From mid-May to the end of September: full-time at the company
  • 15 weeks at ENSTA, 39 weeks at the company (including vacations and international stays)
