Our commitments and certifications

Visiting the campus as part of the Cordées de la Réussite program

For many years, ENSTA has been committed to quality, sustainable development, and social responsibility.
These actions are based on recognized standards (norms, labels, charters) and mobilize a variety of internal and external stakeholders in a collective and sustainable dynamic.

A system of continuous improvement

ENSTA has implemented an integrated management system that complies with the following standards:

  • ISO 9001:2015 (quality management)
  • ISO 21001:2018 (quality of training organizations)

Renewed in March 2025 by AFNOR, the scope covers ENSTA's administration, its research activities (6 laboratories), and training (engineering program, student and apprentice status).

This system is based on:

  • Effective process management
  • A risk-based approach to anticipate challenges
  • Active listening to students and stakeholders
Why these standards?

The implementation of ISO 9001 processes guarantees the quality (general requirements) of the institution and its activities. The ISO 21001 standard complements this approach with criteria specific to education (consideration of specific needs, quality of infrastructure, curriculum design).

ENSTA is the third graduate and post-graduate engineering school in France to be ISO 21001 certified.

Social and environmental responsibility

ENSTA has been awarded the DD&RS “Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility” label, a recognition that validates its social and environmental responsibility policy. A pioneer among France's leading engineering schools, the institution thus confirms its community's commitment to combining academic and scientific excellence in the service of sustainability.

Throughout their studies, our engineering students are made aware of the major challenges of the 21st century:

  • Courses in eco-design and sustainable development
  • Specialized options and courses
  • Impactful entrepreneurial projects
  • Conferences organized by Les Lundis de l'ENSTA (Jean-Marc Jancovici, Cédric Villani, Serge Zaka, etc.).
  • Bio-based hydrogen
  • Optimization of the energy mix
  • Autonomous vehicles
  • CO₂ capture
  • Sustainability of materials

Our laboratories are working on the following topics, for example:

ENSTA also contributes to interdisciplinary initiatives at the Institut Polytechnique de Paris, such as the Energy for Climate (E4C) center and the Interdisciplinary Center for Seas and Oceans (CIMO), which it initiated.

Following Decree No. 2023-1400 of December 29, 2023, on the publication of indicators on equal opportunities for women and men in higher education institutions, as well as the decrees of December 5, 2023, ENSTA publishes quantitative and qualitative indicators (available in the French version of this page).
