A 3-year program
Our 3-year program covers a broad spectrum of sciences, engineering, and humanities that combine to define you as an ENSTA general engineer. Your path to specialization is progressive, with a variety of elective courses offered in different teaching formats to open up the world of engineering to you and personalize your future career.
First year: acquiring the basics
Your first year program in science and general engineering encompasses a varied and coherent curriculum, which has been specifically designed to enable you to understand complex systems, interact with experts, and prepare for major global challenges. Core courses include Mathematics, Physics, Mechanics, Digital Technology, Tools and Methods, Humanities and Social Sciences, languages, and sports. In addition, you will take an elective course and complete a 4-week internship.
Your first year offers you the opportunity to develop your knowledge in the fundamental disciplines of engineering, making it easier for you to choose one of the major subject areas on offer in the second year.
Second year: In depth subject knowlege and introduction to research
In second year, you will choose one of three major disciplinary fields on offer at ENSTA: Applied Mathematics, Mechanical Sciences, or Digital Sciences. You will continue your languages, sports, and humanities and social sciences (scientific mediation, economics, etc.) courses. You will carry out a team project. You will be required to complete a minimum 12-week introductory research internship at the end of the academic year. During your second year, you will also have the opportunity to participate in an international academic exchange program at one of our partner universities.
The second year at ENSTA offers you the opportunity to broaden your scientific knowledge and at the same time open up to the world of research and international opportunities.
Third year: specialization
Your final year, dedicated to professional development, is organized around a semester of specialized studies, and culminates in an end-of-studies internship. Three choices will determine your future career path :

The ENSTA general engineering program is also available in work-study mode. This professional path enables you to start work in a company in your second year. You will be awarded the same degree as full time students.
How does the apprenticeship program work?
You spend your first year as a full time student on campus. This first year on site ensures your integration at ENSTA, fosters communication among students and participation in campus life. It also includes personalised support including preparation for interviews, to help you define your career plans and find a work placement.
You complete your second and third years in work-study mode.
Admission for High-Level Athletes or Artists (SAHN)
A specific admission process is open to candidates who qualify as High-Level Athletes or Artists (SAHN). It aims to offer an admission procedure which is tailored to specific academic and personal profiles, with a view to promoting equal opportunities and diversity.
proof of SAHN status (according to the list provided),
a letter of support or recommendation from a representative of the sport/artistic activity,
a cover letter,
transcripts from high school and post-high school studies, serving as proof of enrollment in CPGE, university degree, or equivalent.
Any incomplete applications or those submitted after the deadline will not be considered. Candidates will be pre-selected on the basis of their academic record and after validation of their sport or artistic file.

Recruited in their fields of interest, the vast majority of ENSTA graduates sign their first contract before even graduating, which is a strong sign of our program's excellence and its alignment with companies' expectations.
