Being an engineer at the DGA (French Defense Procurement Agency)

Institute, Company Defense and Security

On Thursday, February 4, at the initiative of the student association Ingéni’elles, four female engineers from the French Defense Procurement Agency (DGA) came to meet ENSTA students to talk about their careers and answer their questions.

A diverse and inspiring group of women came together for this roundtable discussion:

  • IG2ETA Christelle, Armed Forces Headquarters, Paris
  • IC2ETA Natacha, Operations, Maintenance, and Digital Department, Paris
  • IA Louisa, DGA Project Engineering, Rennes
  • ICT Morgane, DGA Information Management, Rennes

Among the key points to remember from their career paths: a start in a field of technical expertise, followed by rapid advancement and increased responsibility. Each of them works in an exciting technological field with varied career prospects and the opportunity to manage teams and large-scale projects.

“At the DGA, you have many opportunities to change fields and quickly take on management or other responsibilities.”

In turn, they presented the specifics of their careers: from civilian to military, from IETA to AI... These are particularly rich and meaningful experiences where women have their rightful place. “I didn't feel that there was any difference between men and women, or that we were judged differently.”

What they all have in common is a strong connection to defense and a desire to provide innovative solutions that closely meet the needs of the armed forces and make a difference.

“As a civilian student, I found this conference very enriching in terms of discovering and better understanding the career opportunities available within the DGA. The discussions with these engineers, who have had varied and exciting careers, were particularly interesting, especially when they shared their career choices and their feelings throughout their careers,” concludes Garance.
