Nathan, a Belgian exchange student between École Royale Militaire and ENSTA

Erasmus exchange student
Nathan spent a semester at ENSTA as part of a non-degree exchange program with École Royale Militaire (ERM/Belgique)

Why did you choose ENSTA?

I chose to do my Erasmus exchange at ENSTA because I heard excellent feedback from students who had gone there in previous years. Based on my experience, I will definitely recommend ENSTA to students in lower grades!

What are the advantages of studying at ENSTA?

I liked the approach to the courses at ENSTA because it was different and complementary to that of my home school; the approach at ENSTA is more mathematical. In addition, I really enjoyed the courses and found them very relevant (for example, the course on material fatigue). Beyond that, I found it interesting that some lecturers or teaching assistants didn’t necessarily come from academia but also from the “industrial” world (Dassault, SNCF, etc.).

What do you think of student club life?

I didn’t actively participate in a club, but I found the student life on campus to be very active. I really enjoyed playing on the basketball team and competing in games against other schools.

What advice would you give to a student from your country, Belgium, who wants to come to ENSTA?

My advice would be to prepare well for the rigorous math, but also to enjoy student life at ENSTA and take advantage of the exchange program to meet as many people as possible.
