Combining mathematics, mechanics, energy, digital sciences, and humanities (languages, economics, sports, etc.), this excellent scientific program opens up a wide range of disciplines in ENSTA's traditional fields of application.
Mobility and transportation, energy, maritime, digital, health, defense, and security: more than 15 specializations are offered in the final year, in addition to a wide range of dual degrees and opportunities to tailor your own personalized curriculum.
An outstanding education
Offered on two campuses, in Paris-Saclay and Brest, with the same high scientific standards, the multidisciplinary program is based on a solid core curriculum combined with a wide range of disciplinary or sector-specific specializations. It enables you to understand complex technological systems and major societal issues (sovereignty, energy transition, AI, etc.).
Key points
A multidisciplinary program at the highest scientific level offered on two campuses
A course of study offering a wide range of specializations
Teaching that incorporates major societal challenges
International mobility for one semester or more
Numerous dual degrees and mobility opportunities
A program closely linked to research and innovation
A stimulating living and learning environment
Guided by excellence and innovation, ENSTA engineers are bold and creative, ready to take on the major challenges of the contemporary world.
A 3-year program
This 3-year program covers a broad range of sciences, techniques, and humanities that define ENSTA engineers. Professionalization is gradual, with numerous elective courses that open up the world of engineering and allow students to personalize their academic path, using a variety of teaching formats.
First year: acquiring the fundamentals
This first year of scientific and multidisciplinary studies consists of a varied and coherent curriculum designed to enable you to understand complex systems, interact with experts, and prepare for major transitions. It includes a core curriculum dedicated to mathematics, physics, mechanics, digital technology, tools and methods, humanities and social sciences, modern languages, and sports, as well as elective courses and a four-week internship.
This first year allows you to develop knowledge in the fundamental disciplines of engineering, making it easier to choose one of the major subject areas offered in the second year.
Second year: Explore a topic in depth and open yourself up to research
Starting in the second year, students choose one of three major fields of study: applied mathematics, mechanical sciences, or digital sciences. In addition, they continue their studies in modern languages, sports, and humanities and social sciences (scientific mediation, economics, etc.). A team project is carried out, and a minimum 12-week introductory research internship concludes the year. During this year, you also have the opportunity to participate in an international academic exchange program at a partner university.
This second year offers you the opportunity to expand your scientific knowledge while opening yourself up to the world of research and international opportunities.
3rd year: specialization
The final year, dedicated to professionalization, is organized around a semester of specialized studies, complemented by an end-of-studies internship. Three choices will determine your orientation:
your specialization (18 fields)
your professional profile (3 choices)
your assignment for your final project
The entire program combines scientific rigor and intellectual openness to enable you to evolve confidently in the professional world and build a career that reflects who you are.
This program is also offered as a work-study program.
The ENSTA general engineering program offers the opportunity to study as an apprentice. This professional path allows students to be in contact with companies from the second year of the program and to receive the same degree as students.
Who is the apprenticeship engineering program for?
There are many different entry routes and admission pathways.
Bachelor's degree, via the GEI-Univ joint platform: oral exams and interviews
BUT and ATS, via the ENSEA joint platform: written and oral exams
CPGE: specific places are available on the CCMP in all streams (MP, PC, PSI, PT, TSI
The choice is also offered at the end of the first year.
How does the apprenticeship program work?
The first year takes place entirely at ENSTA. It allows for optimal integration into the school, encouraging exchanges and participation in student life. It includes individualized support to help students define their career plans and find a company placement, including preparation for recruitment techniques
The second and third years are spent in a work-study program.

A variety of graduate profiles sought after by recruiters
Recruited in the fields of activity that interest them, the vast majority of ENSTA graduates sign their first contract before even graduating, a strong sign of the excellence of the program and its suitability for the expectations of companies.
With more than 20,000 ENSTA graduates, the ENSTA brand is recognized by major French industrial companies. Some choose to pursue a PhD in a research laboratory in France or abroad.
ENSTA engineers very quickly attain positions of responsibility in major sectors of sovereignty.
In the first year, the one-month internship is dedicated to discovering the business world.
In the second year, the internship focuses on discovering research through the completion of a research project.
Finally, in the final year, the end-of-studies project aims to immerse students in the business world through the completion of an engineering project.
Several projects carried out as part of the program complement these practical applications.
