L’UFR de mécanique regroupe sur les campus ENSTA de Brest et Paris-Saclay les équipes de 3 laboratoires de recherche (IMSIA, IRDL, LMI), dont deux UMR CNRS.

L’UFR de mécanique assure la formation en mécanique théorique, numérique et expérimentale au sein des cursus de l’École et des masters associés.

Les recherches menées allient caractérisation, modélisation et simulation en mécanique des structures, des fluides et des matériaux, jusqu’à des couplages multiphysiques, tirant parti d’approches originales, appuyées par des équipements de pointe.

Portés par une forte dynamique, les projets couvrent les grands domaines d’expertise de l’École et visent à répondre à des enjeux scientifiques, industriels et sociétaux.

Les partenariats académiques et industriels sont nombreux, via des laboratoires communs et chaires, des projets européens (ERC) et nationaux (ANR, ADEME, DGA, groupes de recherche et au sein des centres interdisciplinaires de l’Institut Polytechnique de Paris.
