Master Engineering and Innovation Technologies

Grade : Advanced Technologies

The Master Engineering and Innovation Technologies is proposed jointly by ENSTA and Ecole Polytechnique, and the diploma will be issued by both institutions.

Aim of the Master

The aim of the program is to train future R&D engineers and project leaders which will be part of highly innovative teams. Such specialists, with their resourcefulness and expertise are very valuable for international companies in different sectors.

Each company that is aiming at creating innovative technology should rely on specialists with strong scientific and technical background intertwining several disciplines. The ability to manage and, at the same time, to participate in a well-defined international project developed by partners with different backgrounds, are qualities with are useful and greatly appreciated.

The scientific and technical training for this Master's program is based on teams of professors from both the Ecole Polytechnique and ENSTA, and on the expertise on the laboratories situated on the campus of Palaiseau, 20 miles in the South of Paris. It also benefits from the network of European academic partners of these institutions, in particular Said Business School of the University of Oxford. Industrial partners are Arcelor, Dassault Systems, EDF, Samsung, Renault, Valeo, Thales, Lafarge, PSA, and many others.

Skills and Jobs considered

The Master is organized around four main fields (or poles):
- Advanced Technologies in Structural Mechanics (TAMS)
- Micro-Nano-Opto-electronics (MNO)
- Simulation, Observation and Control (SOC)
- Organizational Dynamics - Technology Change - Innovations and Strategies (OTI)

All students in the Master acquire a training specialized in at least two of these poles. At the end of the training, they will have:
- a comprehensive knowledge in at least two of the above fields ;
- a capacity to participate in multidisciplinary field teams, working on innovative projects in a company ;
- completed a theoretical and practical experiment on the management of an international project.

The acquired skills and contacts will facilitate the graduates of this Master program to accessing international careers in a variety of fields including: industrial and commercial groups; international consulting companies and investment banks; as well as positions as R&D engineers.

Some career examples: engineer in conception of flat-faced screens, system engineer in car industry, in pre-production or manufacturing unit; engineer in conception of automates; engineer of optical networks; engineer in conception of prototypes utilizing systems of transmission of effort in the engines (coupling lubrication/vibration); engineer in strategy of recycling of materials, logistical support; consulting engineer in MNO sector.
